Tonkawa has completely redesigned our annual Ceremonies Workshop, and you DON’T want to miss this one! This experience is intended especially for new Arrowmen wishing to be involved in ceremonies, but also for any practicing ceremonialists who wish to brush up on their skills.


Participants will learn…

  • the reasons for ceremonies
  • what the Pre-Ordeal and Ordeal ceremonies are designed to do
  • the symbolism and characteristics of the principals
  • effective ceremony presentation
  • how to conduct Arrow of Light and Call-Out ceremonies
  • how to assemble your own ceremony team


Participants will make / receive…

  • choker
  • ribbon shirt
  • breechcloth
  • leggings
  • handouts for effective ceremonies
  • ordeal ceremony book
  • scripts for Arrow of Light and Call-Out ceremonies
  • meals on Saturday and Sunday

Packing List…

  • Scout uniform and weather-appropriate gear
  • Bedroll or cot (youth will sleep in the dining hall, no tent needed)
  • Toiletries
  • Water bottle
  • Head-mounted flashlight (and extra batteries)
  • Any regalia you may already own
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and study!



  • $50 for participants — Includes everything on the list to the left
  • $10 for adults and experienced ceremonialists (covers meals only)


Four $50 scholarships for Ceremonies Workshop will be awarded at the 2016 Tonkawa Lodge Banquet. Must be present to win, so please register if you haven’t already!
